Cookie Policy

The short version: Squared Away uses only cookies necessary to keep you signed in and to protect forms against cross-site request forgery. We do not use cookies for advertising. Optional marketing analytics (when enabled) uses browser localStorage, not cookies — see below and our Privacy Policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) to remember information between visits. They are widely used to make websites work, keep users signed in, and understand how people use a service.

How Squared Away uses cookies

Squared Away uses a small number of cookies that are strictly necessary for the platform to function. These cookies help keep you signed in, maintain your session, and protect the security of your account.

Squared Away does not place advertising or marketing cookies on your device.

Types of cookies we use

Squared Away currently sets the essential cookies shown below:

connect.sid	Session cookie — keeps you logged in securely. Contains only a random session identifier; no personal data is stored in the cookie itself. HTTP-only (not readable by JavaScript).	Up to 7 days
csrfToken	Security cookie used for CSRF protection on forms and API requests. Readable by JavaScript in the app so authenticated requests can include a matching token header.	Session / until cleared

These cookies are set by Squared Away to operate the product securely. They are not used for advertising.

Local storage (analytics)

When marketing analytics is enabled, the site may store a random visitor ID in localStorage under a key such as polsia_vid and send a page-view beacon to Polsia. This is not a cookie, but it is similar in purpose (remembering a visitor across page loads). It is not used for advertising. Clearing site data in your browser removes it. Details are in our Privacy Policy.

Third-party cookies

When you interact with certain features, third-party services may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies:

Stripe — when you visit a payment or checkout page, Stripe may set cookies to process your transaction securely and prevent fraud. See Stripe's privacy policy.
Vercel — our hosting provider may set technical cookies necessary for content delivery and security.

These services do not use cookies placed through Squared Away for advertising purposes.

Managing cookies

You have full control over the cookies on your device:

Clear cookies — you can delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Clearing the Squared Away session cookie will sign you out, and you will need to log in again.
Block cookies — most browsers let you block cookies entirely or for specific sites. However, blocking the session cookie will prevent you from logging in to Squared Away.
Browser settings — each browser handles cookies differently. Check your browser's help documentation for instructions on viewing, managing, or deleting cookies.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use cookies, we will update this page and change the "last updated" date at the top. If we ever introduce new types of cookies (such as analytics), we will note the change clearly.

If we introduce optional cookies in the future, we will update this policy before those cookies are used.
